I am interested in working in a management position with a medium to large sized IT department, preferably with some potential to telecommute. I enjoy working with a team who's passionate about learning new technologies that make a workplace a more efficient workhorse, while at the same time making sure existing infrastructure is fully understood, utilized to its full potential and works efficiently and effectively.

Manage a team responsible for the complete day-to-day operations of the computing and telecommunications infrastructure of the company, which consists of over 150 servers and workstations. The company primarily runs on and develops for Linux and Apple OS X, though we work with nearly every variation of *nix. Complete compiler installations and tuning, website design and maintenance, and overall networking maintenance. Head of computing, network and facility security. On-call 24/7 for all network and computing infrastructure issues. Maintain a dedicated computing lab and co-located equipment. Report directly to CEO.

In charge of all computing facilities for both departments, including final purchasing decisions. Included hardware and software purchasing decisions, system maintenance and compliance with Boston University network security standards, maintaining departmental web pages and server, perform system-wide backups - performing restores when necessary, hardware/software upgrades, and overall computing facility strategies. Managed one assistant who performed small system tasks. Facilitated in moving entire department from using SunOS to Linux as a primary operating system.

Supervised purchases of computer and networking gear on all platforms. Managed system backups, voice-mail and phone systems. Assisted in troubleshooting hardware and software problems on both Ethernet and LocalTalk networks, as well as remote E-Mail access problems. Investigated new and emerging technologies for future implementation. Set up and installed over 100 Sun workstations, Macintoshes and PCs. First line in purchase approval of Macintosh and SUN desktop machines, peripherals and software. Provided training and support for over 200 worldwide users of Macintosh and SUN products purchased for the company. Managed the company's internet news server, making changes, additions and upgrades when necessary.
